The twisted pair cable defines five different quality models. The five models are as follows: 1. Category 1: mainly used for voice transmission (one type of standard is mainly used for telephone cables before the early 1980s); this type is used for telephone lines, not for data transmission. 2. Category ii: this class includes cables for low-speed networks that can support up to 4Mbps implementations, which are rarely used in LAN. 3. Category 3: this is relatively popular in previous Ethernet (10M), with a maximum capacity of 16Mmbps, but most commonly used Ethernet for 10Mbps, mainly for 10base-t. 4. Class 4: this kind of twisted pair is improved in performance compared with class 3, which is used for voice transmission and data transmission with a maximum transmission rate of 16Mbps. 4 types of cables are used in network environments with longer distance and higher speed than 3 types. It can support up to 20Mbps of capacity. Mainly used for token-based LAN and 10base-t / 100base-t. This kind of twisted pair can be UTP or STP. 5. Category 5: this kind of cable increases the winding density. The cable is coated with a high-quality insulating material with a transmission frequency of 100MHz. It is used for voice transmission and data transmission with a maximum transmission rate of 100Mbps. It can support up to 100Mbps capacity. Mainly used for 100base-t and 10base-t networks, the most commonly used Ethernet cable.
